The planned acquisition of Gamestation by its high street rival GAME has been cleared by the Competition Commission, with the official body stating it does not expect there will be a considerable lessening of competition in the UK retail gaming market.
“The board of The GAME Group is pleased to note that the Competition Commission, in its final report published today, has unconditionally cleared the completed acquisition of Gamestation,” said GAME.
The acquisition adds 235 stores to GAME’s UK and Ireland group, now totaling 650 outlets. However, GAME intends to keep the Gamestation brand.
