Get a better idea of what the game will be like if it gets made.

With only three days to go until the Kickstarter drive for GODUS closes, 22cans has released a direct feed prototype video demoing the kind of experience you'll get if the project is fully funded.

"Firstly, let's deliver on the promise we made last Friday in which we said we would show you a prototype in video format, that was not a shaky camera recording. Without further delay, here it is but do keep in mind that this is a prototype and by no means the final game," wrote the GODUS update.

Also look out for a second video with a live commentary from Peter Molyneux discussing some of the features and what's missing from the current prototype.

The update also confirms that you will be able to play the single-player element of Godus without needing to go online.

And as an extra incentive to get more backers, all those who pledge money will receive a unique in-game backer totem for your Homeworld.

Considering it was made in just under two weeks, this is a surprisingly good build in my opinion. It's nice to see that they have the foundations in place at least for settlers, buildings and terrain deformation. I really doubt they will have any of the actual destructive god powers up and working before the end of the Kickstarter. However, for what they have done so, I wouldn't say I'm impressed, but I'm more interested.

I'm not going to pay anything near the amount of a pre-order till much further down the line as I have no idea whether I'll be able to run it, or how it will progress.... But I may just chuck a single pound in, just to keep informed about the project.

Even if it's just modern populous I'd be fairly happy. I've been playing reprisal recently (an indie game which is a spiritual successor to populous) and that's one of my games of the year, so this is looking good to me.

To go a step further, it looks exactly like Populous, except with less "God" stuff involved.

I don't really care what a prototype looks like, what I really need is information on how exactly it's going to revolutionise the God-genre. I haven't seen that yet, all God games look the same to me.

It looks a bit rubbish doesn't it? You'd hope if it gets funded they're going to refine it a lot more. The way houses are higgledy-piggledy built about the place just looks messy and annoying. And if you have no direct control, say like in the Civiliation, it seems like it will be very gameplay-light.

It needs more features - like first building a tower for your leader. Building markets to increase food, and then churches to increase happiness. It just looks bland atm. And while the art style seemed nice, I thought it would look a lot cleaner.

Hmmm... that isn't actually what I was hoping the game to be. Looks rather... homogenous. The art style - whilst nice - is a little rough, and I had hoped for greater variety in the buildings. I know its only a quickly put together prototype, but... simplistic 'gameplay', laack of interestiong environment, and the ease with which terramorphing could be done...

I was hoping for the equivalent of Black & White 2 - and this isn't it... :-/

As a whole, this video does nothing to interest me - been considering pulling my backing, and this has just strengthened that thought.

Mind you, by doing so I could contribute extra to get to the next tier for War for the Overworld (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...-the-overworld) - win-win!
