As we approach the EA FC 24 release date, many folks are wondering how exactly they’ll be able to upgrade their copy of the game between console generations. The Dual Entitlement program has been helpful in this regard for the last few FIFA games, but things have changed slightly under the new name – for the better.
Let’s break down exactly how Dual Entitlement works on EA FC 24 and explain how to upgrade your version to the PlayStation 5.
EA FC 24 how to upgrade to PS5
To upgrade your copy of EA FC 24 from the PlayStation 4 to the PS5 version is pretty straightforward, but it depends if you have a physical or digital copy of the game. If you have the digital version, you’ll be given the option to download either the PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 version from your library. Simply select it in order to download the correct version.
If you have a physical version, insert the disk into your PlayStation 5, and then head to the EA FC 24 Game Hub – the tile with the disk icon that should appear. As long as you’re connected to the internet and signed into the PlayStation Network, you should see the Upgrade offer on the game hub page. Review it, and then select the option to ‘Download’ the PS5 version of the game. Bear in mind, you will need the PS4 game disc in the console to play the PlayStation 5 version of the game, even if it’s downloaded.
EA FC 24 Dual Entitlement – do I need the Ultimate Edition to upgrade to PS5?
Previously with FIFA 23, Dual Entitlement was only available on the Ultimate Edition version of the game. Happily, this isn’t the case with EA FC 24, and now owners of both the Standard and Ultimate Edition of EA FC 24 on PS4 can upgrade their game to the PlayStation 5 version at no extra cost.
EA FC 24 Dual Entitlement – can I upgrade to PS5 from Xbox One?
Unfortunately, no. You can only upgrade within the same console family. Therefore, if you have the Xbox One version of the game, you can only upgrade to an Xbox Series X|S version and likewise, if you have the PlayStation 4 version of the game, you can only upgrade to PlayStation 5.
EA FC 24 Dual Entitlement – can I go back to the PS4 version of the game after upgrading to the PS5?
Yes. If you want to go back to the previous version of the game, you can still play on the PS4 version after upgrading to the PS5.
EA FC 24 Dual Entitlement – does my progress transfer over from PlayStation 5 to PS5?
Any progress you make in EA FC 24 Ultimate Team modes – including players, items, coins, FC points, match records and leaderboard placement – as well as any progression in the Volta Football mode will carry across. However, progress in other modes, such as Online Seasons, Co-Op Seasons, Manager and Player Career, Clubs etc will not carry over from one console generation to the next.
