Blaidd’s questline

  • Blaidd’s questline is started in Limgrave, but will take you across the Lands Between
  • You’ll need to progress the main story and Ranni’s questlines to finish it
  • Completing it will earn you Blaidd’s armour and the Royal Greatsword

Blaidd is hands-down one of the coolest characters in Elden Ring. He’s a huge, smooth-talking man-wolf hybrid with a big sword – what’s not to love? And if you’ve met him early on in the game and want to go through his full questline, you might not be sure where to head next.

We’ve put together a guide for Blaidd’s full questline, split into three sections. You’ll have to complete some other questlines to make progress in this one, most notably Ranni’s questline, so be aware that this may take some time, especially if you’ve just started the game. Mandatory spoiler warning for Blaidd’s full questline!

Part 1: Meeting Blaidd and fighting Darriwil

To meet Blaidd, you’ll first want to head to Mistwood Ruins, on the eastern side of Limgrave, southwest of the minor Erdtree. You’ll hear some distant howling, but you won’t be able to meet Blaidd just yet. From here, head back to the Church of Elleh near the First Step Site of Grace and talk to Kalé, the merchant with the Santa hat.

He’ll teach you the Finger Snap gesture and tell you to return to Mistwood Ruins and use it to summon Blaidd. Equip the gesture and use it in the ruins and Blaidd will appear to greet you. And your relationship starts off strongly as he asks you to help him with a quest.

He asks you to head to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol, located in the south of Limgrave just south of the Agheel Lake South Site of Grace. Head here and dispatch Bloodhound Knight Darriwil, where you can also summon Blaidd for help if you need it. If you’ve already defeated Darriwil by this point, just skip to the next step.

After coming out victorious, Blaidd will recommend you head to meet someone named Iji, as well as giving you a few Smithing Stones as a reward. If you haven’t reached the Liurnia of the Lakes area, you’ll now have to progress to that point before continuing with Blaidd’s questline.

Part 2: Iji, Ranni and Radahn

Iji is located on northwestern corner of the lake, near to the Road to the Manor Site of Grace. Tell him that Blaidd sent you, and you’ll have a quick chat before he points you north towards Ranni. Make your way through Caria Manor next, before heading to Ranni’s Rise where you’ll meet Blaidd again, as well as the aforementioned Ranni.

You’ll next need to progress the story a bit. Make your way through Caelid until you reach Redmane Castle. Here, you, Blaidd and a few others will take on General Radahn. This is a compulsory boss fight, so you’re going to have to do it sooner or later. Once Radahn is down, a meteor will fall, and Blaidd will tell you to meet him where it happened, a path that will eventually lead you to Nokron, Eternal City.

Instead, head to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol from part 1, where you’ll find that Blaidd has been trapped within. Talk to him by standing in the middle of the Evergaol, and agree to free him. Next, head back to Iji and tell him about Blaidd being trapped. He’ll tell you a fairly sad tale about how Blaidd is doomed to go mad.

Part 3: Finishing up

You’ll now need to finish off Ranni’s questline completely, which may take some time. Once you complete it, you can return to Ranni’s Rise in the far northwest of the map to meet Blaidd one last time. He’ll have succumbed to the madness Iji warned of, and you’ll have to put him out of his misery.

As tragic as having to kill Blaidd is, you do at least get some decent rewards from it, including his full armour set and the Royal Greatsword. And that’s Blaidd’s full questline complete. Fun, right?

Can you save Blaidd in Elden Ring?

Unfortunately, there is no way to save Blaidd in Elden Ring while progressing his questline. If you don’t free him from the Evergaol, he’ll just stay trapped in there until you do, and once you do free him, he will always inevitably go mad, leading to you having to kill him. Nobody really wants to have to kill Blaidd, but since when have FromSoft been known for putting fun, happy quests into their games?
