How many bosses are in Elden Ring?

In total, there are a whopping 238 bosses available to fight in Elden Ring, not including the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. However, this is the overall total, many of these are mini-bosses found in small dungeons or simply clones of other bosses that you’ll have the chance to fight in different locations.

If you’re only looking at main bosses, there are 14 compulsory bosses that you’ll have to defeat to complete the game. In addition, there are another 27 optional bosses that you’ll fight depending on how you progress certain story paths in the game. For example, you might not fight the Valiant Gargoyle, but a friend following a specific storyline will.

There is one exception to that rule if you want to start the Shadows of the Erdtree DLC, as you’ll need to defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood to access it.
