Magma Blade

  • The Magma Blade is dropped by specific Man-Serpent enemies around Mt. Gelmir
  • Two can be found near the Temple of Eiglay Site of Grace in Volcano Manor
  • Its Ash of War spreads highly-damaging lava on the ground around you and your enemies

Fire damage is incredibly powerful on weapons in Elden Ring. Well, how about a weapon that not only deals fire damage on hits, but can also spread lava around your enemies’ feet, dealing damage over time and demolishing their posture?

The Magma Blade is exactly that, making it an ideal weapon to take on any enemies weak to fire damage. But it’s not as simple to get your hands on as many other weapons in the game. That’s why we’ve put together this guide to tell you how and where to get it for yourself.

Magma Blade stat requirements

To wield the Magma Blade, you’re going to need a minimum of 9 Str, 15 Dex and 16 Fai. While it requires 9 Str to wield, it scales best with Dex and Fai, so it suits Dexterity builds most of all, especially if you’re putting some levels into Faith too.

Magma Blade Ashes of War

The Magma Blade comes with its own Ash of War, and cannot be infused with any other Ashes of War. However, you wouldn’t really want to, as the weapon’s skill – Magma Shower – is one of its strongest characteristics.

Magma Shower will perform three slashes while spinning around, flinging lava all over the ground around you. As well as dealing HP and stance damage to your enemies, the lava will deal further damage over time, and can quickly demolish your opponent’s stance. This makes it very powerful against groups of enemies or against large enemies who will get stuck in the lava.

How to get the Magma Blade

You can only get the Magma Blade from the Man-Serpents wielding a glowing, orange sword. They can be found in various locations around Mt. Gelmir in the far northwest of the map, but there are two in particular that spawn relatively close to a Site of Grace. First things first, you’ll need to make your way through Volcano Manor until you reach the Temple of Eiglay Site of Grace.

Once you’re here, use the nearby elevator to the upstairs balcony, and follow the path up and around until you reach an area swimming in lava. On the western end of this lava is a building that can be accessed through a small window. Avoid or defeat the nearby enemy and jump through.

Inside this room, activate the elevator on your left. This will let you come directly back here from the Temple of Eiglay Site of Grace. On your right, follow the path and you’ll come across two Man-Serpents wielding the Magma Blade. Kill them, reset at Temple of Eiglay and repeat.

The drop rate for the Magma Blade is incredibly low, so be sure to increase your discovery stat as much as possible by respeccing into Arcade and using items like the Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot or Silver Scarab. Even with all of this, don’t be surprised if it takes you a couple of hours to finally get the drop, or even more with bad luck.
