Millicent’s quest in Elden Ring features an important character and story. As one of the more mysterious NPCs, completing Millicent’s quest will net you plenty of rewards and she can help you fight specific bosses, while also being fought as an Invader. To begin Millicent’s questline, you need to first talk to Gowry in Caelid, who will point you in her direction. When you speak to her, Millicent’s quest will begin. We’ll cover where to find her, how to start her quest, and how to progress her story along to one of two conclusions.
How to start Millicent’s quest in Elden Ring

You first find Millicent in the Church of the Plague, located in Caelid. To start Millicent’s quest in Elden Ring, you need to progress through the Caelid region to the east. Go to Southern Aeonia Swamp Bank and run along the path to reach the Sellia Gateway. From here, continue forward and you will find Gowry’s Shack on your right. Inside, speak to Gowry and he will tell you of a young woman inflicted with Scarlet Rot called Millicent. From here, you will be asked to find an item called the Unalloyed Gold Needle. You need this item first before you can start Millicent’s quest.
How to complete Millicent’s quest in Elden Ring
To start and complete Millicent’s quest in Elden Ring, you will need to do a ton of fighting, talking and exploring. Once Millicent is up and about, she will move locations and you will have to make sure you find her at every stop to complete her quest. This will take you from Caelid all the way to the Haligtree, so buckle up.
Speak to Gowry
To begin the Millicent questine in Elden Ring, speak to Gowry in Gowry’s Shack located in Caelid. He will tell you of a young woman afflicted by Scarlet Rot and how he is searching for an item called the Unalloyed Gold Needle. From here, head west into the Aeonia Swamp and make your way to the central area.
Beat Commander O’Niel
In the centre of the Aeonia Swamp, you will come across the boss Commander O’Neil. Beating him will reward you with the Unalloyed Gold Needle. With the needle item in hand, head back to Gowry’s Shack for some more dialogue.
Talk to Gowry again
Exhaust all of Gowry’s dialogue and he will take the Unalloyed Gold Needle. Rest at the Site of Grace or quit and reload the game to progress the quest along and talk to Gowry again. If done correctly, he will have fixed the Gold Needle.
Bring the Unalloyed Gold Needle to Millicent
With the fixed needle in hand, you now have to find Millicent. As explained, Millicent is in the nearby area called the Church of the Plague. To progress Millicent’s quest in Elden Ring, you might need to complete the brazier puzzle in Sellia, Town of Sorcery to open the path up the mountain and towards the church.
You can approach the Church of the Plague from above by jumping down to it from the Dragonbarrow West Site of Grace. From the Site of Grace, go right and go towards the edge of the cliff where there is a Spirit Spring below.
When you talk to Millicent, you can use the fixed Unalloyed Gold Needle on her. Doing so will make her pass out. Rest at the church’s Site of Grace and she will be alive and well. Exhaust all her dialogue and you will get the Prosthesis-Wearer Heirloom talisman. Rest at the Site of Grace and she will move to her next stop.
Return to Gowry’s Shack
Head down the cliff and back to Gowry’s Shack to find Millicent there. Talk to her again and exhaust all dialogue to trigger her to move on. Upon reloading the area, Millicent will be gone and Gowry will be back and act as a spell vendor. Millicent will now move to the Altus Plateau.
Go to the Shaded Castle and find the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis
If you want to, you can talk to Millicent at the Erdtree-Gazing Hill Site of Grace in the Altus Plateau. While not necessary, you can get more dialogue from her this way. Regardless, your next objective is to ransack the Shaded Castle, found in the northern section of the Altus Plateau. The Valkyrie’s Prosthesis can be found in a room on the northwestern edge of the Shaded Castle, guarded by a Cleanrot Knight. Beat the knight and open the chest to find the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis.
Speak with Millicent at the Altus Plateau
Take this back to Millicent at the Erdtree-Gazing Hill Site of Grace. Talk to Millicent, exhausting her dialogue once more, and agree to give her the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis to advance her quest. Rest at the Site of Grace and she will have moved.
Defeat the Godskin Apostle boss at the Windmill Village
She will now move to Dominula, Windmill Village in the northeast section of the Altus Plateau. Make your way through the village and take out all the festival dancer enemies. As you approach the top of the village, you will find the Godskin Apostle boss. Beat this boss and use the Windmill Heights Site of Grace to rest. Millicent will appear here, so talk to her and exhaust all her dialogue to get her to move on.
Find Millicent in the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins in the Mountaintops of the Giants
You won’t find Millicent again until you reach the Mountaintops of the Giants region. Millicent will be at the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins Site of Grace, look for her next to a stone slate in the ground. Talk to her until she has nothing new to say and the next time you rest she will have moved on to the Haligtree. This is marks the final leg of Millicent’s quest in Elden Ring.
Find both halves of the Secret Haligtree Medallion Left and Right
To continue Millicent’s questline, you will need both halves of the Haligtree Medallion. If you have these, you can enter the Haligtree and look for Millicent. If you don’t you will need to grab the halves from defeating Commander Niall in Castle Sol, while the other is given to you by Albus in the Village of the Albinaurics.
Progress to the Haligtree and reach the Prayer Room
With the two Haligtree Medallions, you can access The Haligtree area by using them at the Grand Lift of Rold, just outside of Leyndell on the path towards the Mountaintops of the Giants. Proceed through the Haligtree until you reach the Prayer Room Site of Grace.
Speak to Millicent at the Prayer Room Site of Grace
You will find Millicent in the Prayer Room Site of Grace. To progress Millicent’s questline you will need to beat the Lesser Ulcerated Tree Spirit boss lurking nearby.
Defeat the Lesser Ulcerated Tree Spirit
You can find this mini-boss by heading up the ramp from the Drainage Channel Site of Grace. Climb the ladder to enter a cavern area and you will see the Ulcerated Tree Spirit to the left. Defeat the boss to progress the quest.
Go back to where you killed the Ulcerated Tree Spirit
With the boss killed, quit and reload the game where you found the Ulcerated Tree Spirit and there will now be two summon signs on the ground. You have a choice to either help or invade Millicent. For the sake of completion, we strongly recommend you help Millicent by touching the yellow summon sign. Enter Millicent’s world and prepare for a battle.
Invading and killing Millicent will end her quest there and grant you the Millicent’s Prosthesis Talisman. This is the only way you can get this Tasliman.
Help by fighting the invaders
Killing the invaders will progress the Millicent questline, letting you keep her alive and rewarding you with the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia Talisman. You will face four enemies, named Millicent’s Sisters. Defeat them all and keep Millicent alive to progress.
Find her where you fought the invaders
After successfully killing Millicent’s Sisters, rest at the Drainage Channel Site of Grace to reset the area. Then make your way back to the area where you fought the invaders and found the summon signs to find Millicent. She will be at the edge of a pool of Scarlet Rot, lying on the ground. Talk to her until she has nothing else to say and rest at the Site of Grace once more to progress the quest. Millicent will now be dead where you find her, and if you loot her body, you will get the Unalloyed Gold Needle once more. With that, you have completed the long Millicent questline in Elden Ring.
There is one more thing to do with the Unalloyed Gold Needle. After you beat Malenia, return to her boss room and use the Unalloyed Gold Needle on the flower that spawns there after the fight. This will grant you Miequella’s Needle, which will let you reserve the effects of the Frenzied Flame ending.
The quest is now fully completed. If you want an extra slice of lore and dialogue about Millicent, you can return to Gowry’s Shack and speak to him. Since he is no longer a vendor, feel free to kill him for his Bell Bearing after you’ve exhausted all his dialogue to get the Flock’s Canvas Talisman.
