If you’ve already played through Elden Ring, then you’re probably well aware that the game has plenty of different endings depending on the choices you make throughout the game. Follow one character’s path all the way and you can get the true ending; follow another and you get something much worse.

So with the DLC finally here, you might be wondering if the same is true for Shadow of the Erdtree. Do your choices in the Land of Shadow impact what ending you get when you complete the DLC? We’re here to tell you what you need to know.

Does Shadow of the Erdtree have multiple endings?

Yes, Shadow of the Erdtree does have multiple endings, though we currently don’t know how many that will be. In interviews prior to the DLC’s release, it was confirmed by Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki that the DLC will not feature one definite ending, but multiple that will change based on certain decisions the player makes.

We also know that the DLC won’t feature as many endings as the base game, meaning there are at least two endings and no more than five. We think it’s reasonable to expect two or three endings as this gives players a fair amount of content to explore, while still reflecting the smaller size of the world compared to that of the base game.

Unfortunately, as the DLC has only just released, we only know of one particular ending so far, but as time goes on and we discover more endings, we’ll be sure to update this piece to let you know how many there are in total. This is also confirmed to be the one and only DLC for Elden Ring, so while some more content may be added in the future, this is likely the final number of endings for the game.
