Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree has a single portal to punt you across the map all the way to the Ancient Ruins of Ranh in the northwest of the map. But much like the core game, you’ll need an Imbued Sword Key to active it and make use of it.

If you’ve used up all the ones picked up in the Lands Between, you might find yourself in a bit of a pickle. Luckily FromSoft has planted one in the DLC exactly for that purpose. We’ll walk you through where to find the Imbued Sword Key.

Imbued Sword Key location

You’ll find an Imbued Sword Key in Castle Ensis. To reach it, travel to the Castle-Lord’s Chamber site of grace in Castle Ensis just before the Rellana boss arena. Head down the stairs on the left, then take another left to find a lift. Travel down using the lift, which you used to reach the grace for the first time when making your way through the legacy dungeon. Once the lift comes to a stop, head out of the doorway then take out the knight standing guard. Continue forward across the rampart into the tower straight ahead to find a chest. Inside the chest is an Imbued Sword Key.

Portal location

The lone portal in Shadow of the Erdtree is located just above Castle Ensis in Scadu Altus. To reach it, fast travel to the Highroad Cross site of grace, then travel north east and drop down below in the pond that wraps around a rocky island. Head to the highest point of the island and you’ll find a large monument. At its base is the portal. It takes just south of the Rauh Ancient Ruins, East site of grace, a useful way to bypass Shadow Keep early on if you need to.
