Light Greatswords

  • The Light Greatsword is a new weapon type added in Shadow of the Erdtree
  • The earliest one you can get is Milady, found in Castle Ensis
  • You can get another one from defeating the Castle Ensis boss, Rellana

Shadow of the Erdtree has brought a whole host of new weapon types to Elden Ring, and one of the ones you’ll be able to get fairly early on is the Light Greatsword. And if you haven’t figured it out yet, a Light Greatsword is exactly that, a Greatsword that is lighter than your average Greatsword – simple, right?

Well if you’re getting started with the DLC and are looking for a new weapon to carry on your journey through the Land of Shadow, we’ll tell you how to get your hands on a couple of Light Greatswords straight away to try the weapon out for yourself.

Where to get a Light Greatsword in Shadow of the Erdtree

As soon as you step foot in the Land of Shadow, you can head northeast of the Gravesite Plains to Castle Ensis. Make sure to grab the nearby map fragment to make navigating easier, follow the main road up north and then cross the bridge over the river to your east. Continue straight ahead and you’ll reach a Site of Grace.

From here, keep following the main path, skipping the giant if you don’t want to fight it, until you reach a cliff with a large stone tower on the other side of the valley. Take a left, and you’ll see a set of stairs leading up where a soldier and dog will be patrolling.

Kill them and continue up the stairs. At the top, turn right and head towards a tower with a ladder. Climb the ladder, open the chest and you’ll find Milady, the earliest Light Greatsword you can get. We’ve added some images above to make finding your way a bit easier.

This is the first Light Greatsword you can get, but if you continue through Castle Ensis you’ll eventually reach a boss fight with Rellana. Killing her will grant you an even better Light Greatsword, so it might be worth sticking around here until you’ve got that one too.
