  • The Priestess Heart can turn you into a dragon.
  • To use it, you need to unequip all your armour.
  • This item is only found after beating Bayle.

The Priestess Heart in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is a reusable item that lets you turn yourself into an ancient dragon. If you’re familiar with Dark Souls, this is effectively the Dragon Torso Stone and the Dragon Head Stone rolled into one, and it will last until death when used. There is only one way, but here’s how to get it.

Priestess Heart location

You are given the Priestess Heart by the Dragon Priestess NPC only after you defeat Bayle the Dread in Shadow of the Erdtree. With Bayle dead, you must travel back to the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion Site of Grace. From the Grace, walk to the side of the altar to find an item to pick up where the Dragon Priestess used to be. Loot the item to get the Priestess Heart and the Flowerstone Gavel weapon. This is all part of the Dragon Priestess questline in the DLC.

How to use the Priestess Heart

It’s important to know that you can only use the Priestess Heart to transform into a dragon if you have no armour equipped at all. The item description says you must be disrobed, so it’s time to strip down. You can keep all your weapons and trinkets on, it’s just the armour that needs to go. Put the item on your item bar and use it to take on the draconic form of the Dragon Priestess. Now your reign of terror as a dragon person can begin.

There is another dragon heart item in the DLC that works similarly. Don’t confuse the Priestess Heart with the Rock Heart. The latter item does exactly the same thing and can turn you into a dragon, but this form boosts your Dragon Communion Incantations. This item is tied to the Domain of Dragons Painting and the dragon form you turn into is visually different.

Priestess Heart effects

When you turn into a dragon, you will get stat boosts to damage negation and increased resistance to status effects. We’ve found that the exact stat boost is not as effective as wearing the armour we had on, you can use the Priestess Heart item again to give yourself a damage buff that lasts for about one minute. This buff increases the power of your Dragon Cult Incantations by 20%.

Sadly, the damage negation increase you get is pitiful and you will be very squishy in this form since you can’t equip armor. This is especially true with enemies in the DLC hitting so damn hard even if you wear the heaviest armor in the game.
