One of the new weapon types in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is the Great Katana and among these is Rakshasa’s Great Katana. This powerful sword may be slow to swing but it packs a hefty punch when you strike a foe with it. Of course, a powerful weapon such as this does not come easily.

If you want to get your hands on Rakshasa’s Great Katana in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring, you need to defeat the powerful warrior himself. This is much easier said than done, however, as you will need to embark on a journey to reach Rakshasa before you can challenge him.

Where to find Rakshasa’s Great Katana

Before you can start the run for this weapon, you will need to have progressed through Shadow Keep a bit and defeated the Golden Hippopotamus which is the first boss of this area. From here, you will need to progress through Shadow Keep to where there is a coffin to take you to lower Scadu Altus.

Once you have reached the Castle Watering Hole Site of Grace, head south until you reach the waterfall. Stick to the left side of the waterfall and you will find the Recluses’ River Upstream Site of Grace. Continue south along the cliffs, jumping over to the right side of the cliffs when the ledges get close to one another. You will find an area to drop down with another Site of Grace called Recluses’ River Downstream.

Face southeast from this Site of Grace and look down the cliff. You will see graves that you can hop down on. Don’t go the entire way down. Only drop enough to reach the top of the waterfall below you. From there, continue north up the river and follow the river when it bends east. At the end of the river, you will find the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum. In this Mausoleum, you will find the boss Rakshasa. Defeat this boss to get their armor set as well as Rakshasa’s Great Katana.

Rakshasa’s Great Katana overview

Rakshasa’s Great Katana is one of only three great katanas added to the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. This powerful weapon hits hard but has a noticeably slow attack speed. Despite the slower swing, its wide swiping motions make it great for dealing with multiple foes.

Its Ash of War is called Weed Cutter and it consists of multiple horizontal slashes that can heavily damage and stun those caught in them, leaving them open to attack. Along with this, it has a base blood loss buildup of 55 and scales primarily with dexterity. Keep in mind some strength is required to wield this weapon.

Rakshasa’s Great Katana stat requirements

Rakshasa’s Great Katana requires the following stats to wield it effectively:

Rakshasa’s Great Katana scaling

Rakshasa’s Great Katana has the following scaling. It requires Somber Smithing Stones to upgrade.
