The good news is that you can unlock this item for free. However, you will have to follow a couple of steps before you can add it to your locker, as the pickaxe is not available from Fortnite’s Item Shop.

Midnight Scythe Pickaxe is available for free in Fortnite for a limited time
To get the Midnight Scythe Pickaxe for free, you will have to redeem a V-Bucks gift card. In simpler terms, the new pickaxe is a free reward you get as a bonus for redeeming V-Bucks. However, it’s important to note that the pickaxe is only available for a limited time. Once Epic Games ends the promotion, you may not be able to get it from any other source.
If you’d like to obtain the pickaxe, you will need to visit fortnite.com/vbuckscard. Once you click the Get Started button, follow the instructions on the screen to redeem your card and get the pickaxe. You will need to redeem your Fortnite code between March 18 and April 14, 2024, to receive the bonus cosmetic item. If you are in Australia, Japan, or New Zealand, you will need to redeem it starting March 19.
You can only redeem the Midnight Scythe Pickaxe once per account. Furthermore, you need to purchase a V-Bucks gift card in these countries to be eligible:
