The latest Fortnite x Star Wars crossover event has arrived and brought with it a bunch of new and returning items that reference the iconic series. And one of those new ones is the Wookiee Bowcaster, a laser crossbow that’s Chewbacca’s weapon of choice.

So if you’re getting stuck into the event and are looking forward to having a go with the Bowcaster in this new event, then you’re in luck. Our guide will tell you exactly how to get it, where you’ll need to go, and some info about the weapon itself.

How to get the Wookiee Bowcaster in Fortnite

To get your hands on the Wookiee Bowcaster, you’ll first need to rescue Chewbacca, who has been taken captive by the Imperial forces. You need to head to an Imperial Roadblock where there’s a chance that Chewbacca will be there, being held prisoner. Free him and he’ll give you the Wookiee Bowcaster as a reward.

But if you thought it would be that easy, we’ve got some bad news. There are multiple Imperial Roadblocks across the map, and the one Chewbacca is at will change every single match. So if you head to a Roadblock and don’t find him there, you might have to keep checking other ones until you find him.

But if you don’t find him, there are two more ways you can find a Wookiee Bowcaster. Imperial Chests that are found at the same Imperial Roadblocks all have a small chance of giving you a Wookiee Bowcaster when opened, so make sure to completely check out every Roadblock you visit before heading out again. You can also sometimes find one as floor loot at Darth Vader’s camp, where you can pick up his Lightsaber too.

Wookiee Bowcaster strategy

The Wookiee Bowcaster has a fairly slow fire-rate, but deals good damage. Regular shots will deal 55 damage on hit, but what makes it stand out is it’s charge attack. You can charge up your shots to deal one big, explosive shot to deal massive damage – potentially as high as 196 damage in one go.

We recommend making use of this charge shot to start engagements. If you manage to hit one of these charged shots on an unsuspecting player, the fight is as good as over, and you can quickly finish them off with the regular Bowcaster shots, or swap to another weapon to get a few hits in.
