These are the games like Genshin Impact we recommend:

  • Wuthering Waves
  • Tower of Fantasy
  • Granblue Fantasy: Relink
  • Honkai Impact 3rd
  • Immortals Fenyx Rising
  • Honkai Star Rail
  • Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition

Genshin Impact might catch a bad rep due to its gacha nature, but it really does deliver a fantastic experience. While any gacha is bad practice due to it being gambling, Genshin wins points due to how the entire game can be enjoyed thoroughly without paying any money at all, it is also fairly generous compared to other F2P games out there. As a massive open-world RPG adventure, it is an incredibly fun and thought-out game, with fresh content added every month. Exploration is rewarding and enjoyable, and the combat is stylish and engaging. Whether you want an open world, an anime style, or something with great combat, there are plenty of games like Genshin Impact you can try.

Wuthering Waves

  • Release Date:
  • Platform(s): Unknown
  • Genre(s): Unknown

Would you recommend this game?

You may have heard that Wuthering Waves is the latest ‘Genshin killer’, and this could be true for many. We, however, think that it has copied far too much – including but not limited to the UI, the combat, the gacha, the font, and the visuals – to earn that title. As far as we’re concerned, Wuthering Waves is Genshin Impact by another name, and they are extraordinarily similar to the point that it harms Wuthering Waves having its own identity. With that in mind, you get so much of what you might love from Genshin in Wuthering Waves, such as stylish combat, open-world exploration, puzzles, anime characters and designs; not to mention a gacha system for pulling characters that is literally identical.

Tower of Fantasy

  • Release Date:
  • Platform(s): Unknown
  • Genre(s): Unknown

Would you recommend this game?

Another game that debuted as the next ‘Genshin killer’, but faded somewhat into obscurity is Tower of Fantasy. This is another game that is, visually, extremely similar to Genshin in the way the characters look and how the world is designed. Tower of Fantasy sets itself apart a little more from Genshin Impact, which goes a long way in making it more enjoyable. Exploration and combat are fairly similar, and that is going to be a good thing if that’s what you love about Genshin. The best part? you can customise your main character. For better or worse, Tower of Fantasy simply does more of what Genshin already has on offer, but slightly differently.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink

  • Release Date: 01 February 2024
  • Platform(s): PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5
  • Genre(s): Action Adventure, Action RPG, Multiplayer

Would you recommend this game?

Breaking away from similar gacha games, you might want to give Granblue Fantasy Relink a try. Relink is the first time a Granblue game has made its way from mobiles to consoles, and the game is truly fantastic. While it has a much-earned colloquial title of ‘Grindblue Fantasy’ for the sheer amount of material grinding you need to do, this could be exactly what you want from a game like Genshin. The anime style is beautiful, the characters are fun and unique, and the combat is excellent, so why not give it a go?

Honkai Impact 3rd

  • Release Date:
  • Platform(s): Unknown
  • Genre(s): Unknown
Sources coming soon

Would you recommend this game?

Honkai Impact 3rd is the OG game from HoYoverse, which is still going to this day. Genshin was made much later and uses a lot of the same ideas from Honkai Impact 3rd. You have an open world, anime characters, action-focused combat, and fun puzzles to solve. Between this and Star Rail, Honkai Impact 3rd is closer to Genshin in visuals and gameplay, but it is older than Genshin and can suffer because of it.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising

  • Release Date: December 3, 2020
    • – 25 February 2020 (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch)
  • Platform(s): Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X
  • Genre(s): Action, Adventure, RPG

Would you recommend this game?

Immortals Fenyx Rising is not a gacha game, but it does have a lot of elements from Genshin you might find appealing. Chief of all, the puzzles in Fenyx Rising are fun and challenging, and they feel satisfying to solve, which blends well with how fluid and fast the exploration is. Combat is exciting, letting you unleash your god-gifted powers on foes to your heart’s content. There is a huge map to explore and it does a great job of always having something more to see just over the next hill, which is something we love about Genshin’s exploration.

Honkai Star Rail

  • Release Date: April 26, 2023
  • Platform(s): Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5
  • Genre(s): Adventure, RPG
Sources coming soon

Would you recommend this game?

Honkai Star Rail is similar to Genshin in that HoYoverse developed it, and as such, both of these games share almost entirely the same systems and flow exactly the same. Several mechanics from Genshin are present here, but the general consensus is that they have been streamlined and made much better than Genshin has ever done. Combat is turn-based and it is not open-world, but the anime cell-shaded style remains, alongside fun story quests, writing, and excellent music. For what it’s worth, Star Rail is even more generous when it comes to not relying on spending to get anything, giving you plenty of free rewards.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition

  • Release Date:
  • Platform(s): Unknown
  • Genre(s): Unknown

Would you recommend this game?

Where Genshin Impact somehow manages to reign in the ‘anime’ of it, Xenoblade Chronicles firmly leans into the over-the-top anime style you might expect from the art style. This JRPG is legendary and its reputation is well-earned. Characters announce their attacks, are all best friends forever, and never stop chatting about how great they are in combat. Xenoblade doesn’t have an open world per se, but it does have huge regions to explore, some extremely fun combat, and brilliant characters who you will never forget. Go and live Shulk’s incredible journey with the Monado and see how absurd it gets towards the end, you won’t regret it. Just a quick note, this game is particularly long, so expect a huge time investment to get through it.
