#1 Obtain some Sand Blocks
Sand has two variants: normal sand and red sand. You can use both of them to make glass in Minecraft.
Normal sand spawns literally everywhere in the world but it’s recommended to follow the rivers or look under lakes or oceans. Beaches and desert biomes are great places to collect a large number of sand blocks as well.
If you’re lucky enough to find a badlands biome, you can collect a bunch of red sand to make glass.
In addition, you can trade 1 emerald with the wandering trader for 8 normal sand or 4 red sand, depending on the available trades.
#2 Craft a Furnace
You can use 8 cobblestones, deep slate cobbled, or Blackstone to craft a furnace in Minecraft simply follow the recipe below.
Furnaces can also be found in most village structures, especially inside the weaponsmith’s house. Ancient cities and igloos also have a chance to spawn with a furnace.
#3 Smelt the Sand
Once you have the Furnace, place it down, and right-click on it. Then place the sand (red sand) in the top slot, and place some fuel items in the bottom slot. Your sand should be smelted into glass soon!
Other Ways to Get Glass in Minecraft
Besides smelting the sand in a furnace, you can find glass spawn naturally in the world. Woodland mansion contains 98+ glass blocks and ancient cities should spawn with some glass blocks inside them too, but beware of the Warden!
You can also trade 1 emerald with the librarian village for 4 glass blocks. They have a 50% and 66% chance to have this trade respectively on Java and Bedrock Edition.
