  • Xenogard is a Dragon Pal that can drop alongside random Meteorite Events.
  • Use Ice Pals, proper armour, recovery meds, and Legendary Pal Spheres to capture this Pal.
  • While Xenogard Pals have Mining Level 3 work suitability, we recommend taking them into combat to boost Meteorite Fragment collection with its partner skill.
  • It drops Meteorite Fragments when defeated.

Xenogard is a massive Pal that’s one of the many new additions of the Sakurajima update. The Japan-inspired island isn’t the only place you’ll find them though. In fact, they can randomly drop near you anywhere on the Palpagos Islands so it’s good to be prepared. Here’s what you need to know about this Dragon Pal, their weaknesses, and why they’re worth capturing.

Xenogard location and how to catch it

Xenogard spawns during Meteorite Events and isn’t a guaranteed spawn. You might encounter other Pals instead like Selyne or Xenovader as well. But if you do spot the white-armoured Xenogard near a meteor, be on your guard. It tends to appear as an Alpha Pal with a ton of health and attack power. Even if it’s not a high-level Pal, Xenogard can be tricky to capture. Here are our tips to fight Xenogard effectively:

  • Use Ice Pals: As Xenogard is a Dragon Pal, Ice attacks are effective against it. We recommend using Frostallion here as its Ice Steed partner skill gives your attacks the Ice element affinity too. In addition, the Pal buffs Ice damage when mounted. Riding Frostallion will also let you evade some if not all of Xenogard’s AoE attacks. Foxcicle is another good option thanks to its Aurora Guide partner skill buff for Ice Pal attacks.
  • Wear the right gear: In addition to the Plasteel Helmet and Armor, consider accessories like the Attack and Life Pendant. A shield is a good idea too if you want to tank some attacks. Consider spending Dog Coins to improve your arsenal.
  • Bring Recovery Meds: While these won’t heal you instantly, they will restore some of your health as you duck behind cover.
  • Use the best Pal Spheres: While Legendary Spheres should do the trick, the new Sakurajima Island update also offers Ultimate Spheres that can be used for a better capture rate against Xenogard.

Xenogard skills and recommended usage

Here’s a list of all the skills that Xenogard can learn:

LevelSkillTypeDescription
Level 1Dragon CannonDragonHurls an energy ball imbued with draconic energy at a foe.
Level 7Dragon BurstDragonQuickly discharges draconic energy, damaging enemies around it.
Level 15Air BladeNeutralSends out sharp blades of air in a fan shape towards an opponent.
Level 22Draconic BreathDragonExhales breath imbued with draconic energy, dealing continuous damage to foes in front of it.
Level 30Icicle LineIceGenerates a large pillar of ice that moves in a straight line.
Level 40Comet StrikeDragonDrops a lethal meteorite straight down, generating a shock wave around the impact area.
Level 50Beam SlicerDragonMows down the frontal area with a beam imbued with incredible dragon power. The area touched by the beam will explode after a few seconds.

And here’s what Xenogard is good at in Palworld:

  • Thanks to its Mining Level 3 work suitability, Xenogard is great for mining the new Coal and Sulfur mines on Sakurajima Island.
  • It’s great in combat and has a lot of health as well so you could add it to your party to support you. While it’s a Dragon-type Pal, it has an Ice skill, making it a versatile choice, especially in the PvP arena. Craft the Xenogard saddle with 20 Leather, 30 Meteorite Fragments, and 50 Paldium Fragments at level 51 to ride it into encounters against Pals and enemy humans.
  • Its partner skill Crater Enthusiast boosts the amount of Meteorite Fragments and Pure Quartz you can earn. Since Meteorite Events are random, it’s good to have this Pal with you in case you want more of these resources.

Xenogard item drops and materials

Xenogard drops Meteorite Fragments when defeated. But we recommend capturing it instead for its partner skill. This will increase the amount of this resource you can harvest during Meteorite Events. The official Paldeck entry of the foreign Pal reads “Consumes information and turns it into energy. Regularly seems to be sending information to someone. Hello? What was that message you just sent? I devoured it before checking.”
