The Ranger class in Tarisland is a very strong ranged DPS class. If you opt for the Hunting specialization,m then you so the best single-target damage in the entire game. If you’re all about carrying the raids and killing bosses a strong Hunting build is for you.

In this guide, expect us to cover rotations, stat priority, talent builds and general playstyle of what to expect for Hunting Ranger build in Tarisland. Hint: you’re a stationary high crit damage-focused class that tops the Tarisland Tier List for Raid environments.

Hunting Ranger Build

The Hunting Ranger Build is all about standing still and being a turret that pumps damage. The core of the build is all about your “Sniper Shot” second skill. You do the most damage with this skill, and with a well-built Stability mechanic, you can use that spell very fast for some very high burst damage. The “Rapid Shot“, aka skill 3 and other spells are all used off cooldown for additional damage spikes. “Corrosion Shot” is your 4th skill, which deals a DoT, but it is mainly used to boost your attack power for your other damage skills.

Your 5th skill is a “Scatter Shot“, which is easier to use than most AOEs, but it will cost Stability to cast which is a downside. You do great AOE, but it can ruin your single target damage window. As for your 6th skill, it is a standard crit and damage ramping type buff that lasts a long period. Your Inscribed skill is all about making Steady Shot and your other spell have reduced cooldown for a stronger burst phase.

Hunting spec rotation

The core rotation of the build will be to spam your first skill, Steady Shot to generate Stability. Stability then reduces the cast times of your Rapid Fire and Sniper Shot, making them do better DPS. Your 4th skill is Corrosion Arrow, which is a DoT and boosts the damage you deal to that target. You want to maintain this in your single target kill threat for other parts of your kit to do damage. The rotation is therefore very simple:

  1. Spam Steady Shot and build Stability to max.
  2. Cast Corrosive Shot for a 10% damage buff for 4 seconds. – Further enhanced with talents later on
  3. Press Rapid Shot.
  4. Use Sniper Shot.

You can also use Hunter’s Heart for a 12-second damage boost that further improves Rapid and Sniper Shot damage too. Your inscribed stone buffs your Steady Shot with no cooldown to help you spam Steady Shot. Casting Steady Shot twice while this is active instantly resets Rapid Shot. You can use this for a few reasons in the talent build later on.

If your entire bar is off cooldown and available, you want to do the following:

  1. Use skill 6 – spec buff.
  2. Use skill 7 – Inscribed stone buffs.
  3. Use skill 4 – Corrosive Shot.
  4. Use skill 3 – Rapid Fire.
  5. Use skill 2 – Sniper Shot.
  6. Use skill 1 twice – Steady Shot.
  7. Use skill 3.
  8. Use skill 1×2.
  9. Use skill 3.
  10. Use skill 2.

This allows you to reduce your global cooldown to get as many bonuses out of your 7 and 4 skill duration. Therefore, you get as much damage out of Rapid Shot and Sniper Shot in a short space of time. You want to press 6 earlier in the rotation because it lasts 12 seconds and will hit that full rotation.

Hunting talents

There are two different versions of the build. One uses Sniper Shot’s extremely high attack power modifier and crit damage to nuke bosses. This is the build we are going through today as it is the strongest singe-target damage spec in the game. The other is Magic Shot, which allows the class to be slightly more better on the move. Feel free to try out Magic Shot and replace the Sniper Strike exclusive talents if you want a more mobile playstyle for PvP or Dungeons. You can also check out our Beast Tamer build if that interests you for a solid mobile-friendly playstyle.

  • Steady Burst x3 – Casting Steady Shot 2 times in a row increases your Crit Rate and Crit Damage by 3% for 10 seconds. Count is reset if you use another skill before completing two casts of Steady Shot.
  • Rapid Shot+ x3 – Rapid Shot deals 30% more base damage. Once cast, your next Sniper Shot or Magic Shot deals 24% more damage. Use Rapid Shot on full Stability then Sniper Shot to make that spell even stronger.
  • Composed x3 – Increases Crit Rate by 3%.
  • Steady Shot+ x2 – Steady Shot deals 27% more base damage and it now increases Stability by 20. You now only need 3 casts of Steady Shot to reach max Stability for Rapid and Sniper Shot.
  • Steady Strike x2 – Corrosion Arrow has a 100% chance to keep your Stability at its maximum while increasing your crit damage by 10% for 4 seconds.
  • Explosive Arrow x3 – When Steady, Rapid, or Scatter Shot hits an enemy, there is a chance to make your next Magic or Sniper Shot carry an explosive tip. This deals damage equal to attack power to the target and enemies in a 5m radius around the target. This adds slightly more to AOE.
  • Final Arrow x3 – You deal more damage to targets below 25% HP.
  • Sniper Shot+ x3 – Sniper Shot deals 15% more base and crit damage.
  • Rapid Corrosion x2 – Corrosion deals additional physical damage equal to a percentage of your attack.
  • Precision Snipe x2 – Sniper Shot has 35% increased crit rate and crit damage against targets with more than 70% HP.
  • Hunter’s Heart+ x2 – The base cooldown of Hunter’s Heart is reduced by 20 seconds and lasts 2 seconds longer.
  • Hunter’s Heart x2 – Hunter’s Heart now reduces all of your skill cooldowns by 15%.
  • 2x Armor-Piercing Arrow – You’ll get 2% more damage for 3 seconds for every Rapid Fire arrow launch, stacking up to 8 times. With the lowered cooldown and Rapid Fire resets, you can easily make consistent work of this rather high multiplicative damage modifier.

Hunting stat priority

The stat priority for Hunting Ranger builds is as follows:

  1. Crit
  2. Omni / Cooldown
  3. Dexterity
  4. Hit
  5. Combo / Focus

Crit is the primary function of this class. You’re all about ramping as much damage as you can from Sniper Shot and Rapid Fire. The more you get these spells to crit, the better your DPS. You have about 35% crit chance for Sniper Shot from one talent, plus all the extras from other talents and your gear. By level 40, you’ll easily be sitting around 80-100% crit chance for Sniper Shot, depending on your gear and Inscribed Stone level. Your other skills will crit less often, so again, more crit is better for your damage ceiling.

You also need crit for the Core Passive talent, Lashing Arrow. Crits leave a bleed on the target doing passive damage over time on them. The effect lasts for a while and can stack. So again, that’s more single target boss killing. The more crit you get, the increased chance from 3.5%-17.5% to make Sniper Shot an instant cast. Another reason you want crit.

Omni and Cooldown are both good stats. Cooldown will reduce almost every part of your build. The more you get to Rapid Fire and Sniper Shot, the better your damage. Aim for 26% for the core passive talent as that grants you most reset chance with Rapid Fire after using Sniper Shot. More cooldown after that is also nice for further reducing your 6th and 4th skills.

Omni is nice for increased Corrosion damage. It adds some more damage to the DoT of the spell, and when you reach Omni milestones up to 15.6%, you get 15% more damage to targets affected by Corrosion. On top of the buff that Corrosion gives you, that is a 25% bonus damage. You need to hit 15.6% Omni in your build.

Dexterity is the next best stat for added damage increase.

Hit is the next important stat. Make sure you have enough hit to fight the content you’re doing. You can find the hit goal for your build based on the dungeon or raid you’re entering. Open the dungeon and raid menu and then look at the attributed book for that instance to check the hit requirement.

Combo is relatively useless since you don’t have a builder-spender playstyle. Focus also has little to no benefit.

Stamina is passively okay for a defensive stat.
