The Paladin DPS class focuses on building up a meter and then unleashing their two main abilities for enhanced damaging effects. In terms of class identity, the Paladin DPS offers a unique playstyle: it is slow yet capable of dealing extremely large critical and burst damage, making it competitive in skilled hands. As we delve deeper into the guide, you’ll discover what Tarisland’s Paladin DPS build entails, covering rotations, talents, stats, and inscribed stones.

Hint, Paladin DPS players should expect them to be strong PvPers with their burst, alongside doing some very strong AOE for dungeons and raids. See more in our Tarisland Tier List for more info.

Tarisland Paladin DPS Build Explained

Before we proceed further, let’s explain the Paladin DPS spec. The Paladin DPS spec is called Justice. For the most part, you will use your first skill, “Glory Strike,” which builds up the spec’s meter, Power of Glory. At 5 stacks of Power of Glory, you can activate either the left or the right side of the meter. Activating the left side empowers your second skill, “Justice Thump,” while the right side empowers your third skill, “Judgement Strike.” Justice Thump triggers talents, while Judgement Strike deals bonus critical damage and base damage that is 15% more powerful.

Additionally, the Paladin has some fantastic cooldowns that grant more damage, including a strong AOE skill. This makes the Paladin DPS exceptionally good at AOE damage spikes. “Shattering Slam“, the fourth skill, launches a thick line forward, hitting multiple enemies for very high ATK damage scaling. Meanwhile, your fifth skill, “Discipline Storm” is an AOE around you that costs 1 Power of Glory.

In terms of major class cooldowns, you have the sixth skill, “Trial of Rage,” which boosts your critical rate, haste effect, and ATK power for 15 seconds. Partly, your inscribed stone skill significantly increases Power of Glory generation from your Glory Strike skill.

Paladin DPS Rotation

The DPS Justice Paladin rotation is a priority system. Primarily, you will spam Glory Strike off cooldown to get Power of Glory stacks. While doing so, weave in your Justice Thump and Judgement Strike, assuming the cooldown is less than it takes to get to the Judgement Enhancement effect for whichever skill is being built.

For example, a rotation might look like this:

  • Glory Strike > Shattering Slam > Thump > Judgement > Glory spam > Either 2 or 3, depending on which Enhancement effect you’re building > Then 2 or 3 again for the talent synergies.

You also want to use Judgement Strike early and have the cooldown ready for your Judgement effect due to the Frenzy Strike talent, which provides a significant damage boost for 6 seconds for the remainder of your rotation.

If you happen to get a Judgement Strike proc, then you can use your third button more often. The Justice Paladin rotation is about assessing your cooldowns for your next Judgement Enhancement effect and pressing your buttons accordingly. As you gain more critical chance, you’ll find you gain more Glory stacks via Glory Strike, affecting your ability to use 2 or 3 during the build-up. Assess your cooldowns versus the average time building up your Glory stacks meter. Measure accordingly to avoid DNS downtime, as using Thump and Justice Strike is always more important within Enhancement windows than without.

For AOE fights, follow this sequence:

  • Glory Strike > Hammer Strike > Discipline Storm > Repeat steps 1/3.

Paladin DPS Talents

The talent build we’ll be running is primarily designed for boss mechanics, with a combination of AOE and single target buffs. The main thing to note about Paladin is that it is very crit-reliant, especially during its class mechanic procs. Many boss mechanics are anti-melee, so having the options to increase your speed and improve your DPS window to proc your Judgement enhancements is vital for every part of gameplay.

Talent Build:

  • Glory Strike+ x3 – Increases Glory Strike’s base damage by 12% and your Speed-Up effect by 6% for the next 6 seconds.
  • Justice Thump+ x1 – Justice Thump deals 5% more base damage and 6% more damage when enhanced by Judgement: Justice.
  • Enraged x3 – Judgement Strike makes your next skill deal 15% more base and critical damage.
  • Echo x3 – Consuming any Judgement enhancement effect has a 100% chance to grant you 1 stack of Power of Glory.
  • Eternal Glory x3 – Shattering Slam has a 100% chance of instantly generating 1 random Glory Judgement enhancement effect after it is cast, prioritising effects you don’t already have.
  • Power of Justice x1 – Justice Thump now has two charges. Triggering Hammer of Glory grants 1 stack of Justice Thump recharge instead of refreshing the cooldown.
  • Dogma x3 – Every 3rd Glory Strike is 30% more likely to crit.
  • Double Knight x3 – During battle, successfully triggering two different Judgement Enhancement effects increases the skill damage of your next skill by 30%. Successfully triggering the same Judgement Enhancement consecutively increases the crit rate of your next skill by 30%.
  • Frenzy Strike x2 – Increases the base crit rate for Judgement Strike by 6%. Landing a crit also deals 10% more damage for 6 seconds.
  • Judgement Strike+ x3 – Judgement Strike deals 9% base damage. Gaining Judgement: Verdict instantly reduces the cooldown for your Judgement Strike by 3 seconds. When Judgement Verdict is enhanced by Judgement Strike and deals critical damage, its cooldown is instantly reduced by 3 seconds.
  • Shattering Slam+ x3 – Increases Shattering Slam’s base damage by 15%. Within 4 seconds after hitting the target, it deals 21% more damage.
  • Trial of Rage+ x2 – Extends Trial of Rage by 3 seconds and reduces its base cooldown by 30 seconds.
  • Expedition x2 – While Trial of Rage is active, every time you cast a damage skill, your crit rate and haste effect increase by 2%. This effect can stack indefinitely until Trial of Rage expires.

The talent system has a few interesting synergies. The crit improvement rate from Glory Strike synergises with the Enraged talent granted from triggering Judgement Strike, creating a combo in itself. You can also use Enraged to further improve your spare stack of Justice Thump. Talents like Double Knight are handy for flat improvements to playstyle, increasing either your crit chances for your Thump stack or providing better damage for weaving in Judgement Strike while filling your Glory meter. The Judgement Strike+ talent allows you to cast multiple Judgement Strikes and boosts its damage, enabling it to benefit from the Double Knight effect.

Depending on your raid leader, you might be asked to take the Field Rage talent, which costs 2 points. This talent gives your raid 25% of the critical and ATK buffs from your sixth skill to raid members within a 25m radius. If you take this, drop two points from Shattering Slam+ due to the talent structure. Feel free to adjust other talents if necessary.

Paladin DPS Stat Priority and Inscribed Stone

Stats:

  • Crit
  • Cooldown
  • Omni
  • Strength
  • Focus
  • Hit
  • Combo

Crit is your main stat, offering the most burst synergy for your Enhanced effects. It also has core passive synergy, as critting with Glory Strike grants an extra level of Power of Glory. Furthermore, Glory Strike has an increased chance to refresh Justice Thump and make it deal double damage. This is crucial for your two stacks of Justice Thump and weaving in more Justice Thumps through your rotation. Acquire as much crit as possible for the build.

Cooldown is your next important stat. It reduces the cooldown of Shattering Slam and Trial of Rage. The more often you use these abilities, the better your burst damage from Shattering Slam will be, alongside the crit synergy buffs from Trial of Rage. Additionally, Cooldown synergises with a core passive talent, reducing Shattering Slam’s cooldown further when Glory Strike procs, based on your cooldown reduction percentage. The more cooldown reduction you have, the more Shattering Slam reduces the cooldown on Judgement Strike.

Omni is a useful stat for higher damage values on skills. It also works with the Justice Storm core passive. The more Omni you have, the more you can spam Discipline Storm without consuming Power of Glory stacks. However, Omni is hard to obtain in Season 0, so prioritise Shattering Strike for AOE damage.

Passively acquire other stats. Hit is found in gem slots and on bracers, so aim to cap your hit rating for the content you’re running. Strength increases your ATK power, which comes from gear and inscribed stones. Focus allows you to ignore more of the target’s defence, making it easier to acquire Omni.

Combo is not needed for the Paladin, as its gameplay focuses on cooldowns and stacking.

Recommended Emblems for Inscribed Stone:

  • Warlike Surge – Focus-improving emblem with buffs to node attributes around it.
  • Burst – Huge ATK stack for single target raid damage.
  • Strive – Chance to deal significant burst damage.
  • Tribal Ode – Passive ATK and Defence improvements, which are beneficial for melee tactics.
  • Out of Control – Bonus AOE for the Paladin’s burst AOE-themed DPS role.

For the Inscribed Stone configuration, follow the recommended route to maximise crit and cooldown. You’ll passively acquire some Omni too. The Inscribed Stone is challenging to min-max until you reach higher levels, which will take months as a free-to-play player.
