Kinect isn’t dead yet. A new game for Microsoft’s body-tracking peripheral launched today on Xbox One, which has already, according to the developer, been hailed as “the best Xbox One Kinect title to date”.

Kung-Fu for Kinect promises to let players “star in [their] own comic book” and turn themselves into a “kung-fu hero”, as they jump, punch and kick their way through a martial art adventure.

“Kung-Fu For Kinect is suitable for all ages, shapes and sizes and may result in getting you seriously fit,” said developer Virtual Air Guitar Company. “Following on from Kung-Fu High Impact on Xbox 360, Kung-Fu for Kinect makes full use of the improved Kinect for Xbox One in the form of more accurate punches, faster motion response and smaller space requirements. So that priceless Ming vase of yours is safe. Well, relatively speaking.”

Founder Aki Kanerva added that the studio was “delighted to find that Kinect fans are still alive and kicking”.

The game is available digitally from the Xbox Store for £14.99.

Kinect, meanwhile, largely appears to have been sidelined by Microsoft. A port for the device is completely absent from the new Xbox One S, while Xbox One owners will soon be able to use voice commands to control their console using just a headset.
