Fortnite OG saw the game reach heights in popularity that it hadn’t seen since the black hole event in 2019, with millions of players jumping in to experience the nostalgia trip of landing in Tilted Towers, Retail Row, and Pleasant Park again. Following its end in November 2023, it was announced that Fortnite OG would be returning to the game, and many expected it to be a permanent core mode alongside Battle Royale, Creative, Festival, LEGO, and Rocket Racing.

This doesn’t look to be the case anymore, but it is rumored that Fortnite OG could be returning with the Chapter 2 map later this year. However, it does look like we are about to get a resemblance of Fortnite OG as Epic Games has teased a new mini Battle Royale mode called Reload, and players don’t have long to wait before they can play it.

Before their Summer break which begins next week, Epic Games was set to release the 30.20 update on June 25th. It looks like the team is too excited to play the new Elden Ring DLC or spend their Summer clicking a Banana and wants to go on vacation early, so the 30.20 update has been brought forward to Saturday, June 22nd. Along with the upcoming Metallica live event, a brand new mode is launching and it looks like it is going to be a lot of fun.

Players will be able to jump into a smaller Battle Royale map than they are used to, but it is still packed full of POIs to explore. Popular Chapter 1 locations such as Tilted Towers will be returning alongside some brand new POIs. Here is a full list of the known POIs that will be in the new Reload mode, there are also two that we don’t have information on yet:

  • Tilted Towers
  • Retail Row
  • Pleasant Park
  • Lil’ Loot Lake
  • Sandy Sheets
  • Lazy Laps
  • Lonely Lodge

Epic Games hasn’t released any details regarding the number of players that will land on the map or any of the loot pool, mechanics, etc but we can expect all of that to be revealed in a blog post along with the 30.20 update.
