Fortnite has gone through massive changes over the past six and a half years. The first mode that came out was PvE, but Epic Games quickly jumped on the battle royale bandwagon by releasing what turned out to be the best game in the genre. The game has evolved so much that the OG Fortnite is a distant memory for many players. However, it will return very soon.
In late 2023, Epic revealed that the original Fortnite would return at some point this year. The good news is that the development team began working on this project, and even better news is that it will be a separate game mode!

The OG Fortnite is returning in 2024
According to Hypex, the most reputable Fortnite leaker, the OG Fortnite is in the world. Epic Games started working on returning this game mode, and it will be a separate mode. The development team already had a version of the original Fortnite in November 2023, and it turned out to be a massive success. The next version will have a new twist, but will likely be very popular.
At the moment, it’s unknown if the mode will be permanent or temporary. While many players would love the original Fortnite to return for good, it makes more sense for Epic to release it periodically.
The release date of the OG Fortnite is also unknown. However, Epic did reveal that it would return sometime in 2024. Considering we are still in the early stages of Chapter 5, the original version of the game probably won’t return until mid-2024.
The OG Season was so popular that it peaked at 6.2 million concurrent players. This number has been surpassed by Chapter 5, but it shows that many players are interested in playing the original version of Fortnite.
