Fortnite Reload has been a smash hit since it launched last week, bringing in over one million concurrent players and overtaking the core Battle Royale mode in popularity. Just one week after the mode was announced, Epic Games has now added the highly-anticipated Duos mode to allow smaller teams to jump in and get a Victory Royale to earn the Rezzbrella Glider.

It was announced in a blog post that the Duos version of Fortnite Reload will feature some changes to allow teammates to get back into the match much faster.

  • Reboot timers begin at 12 seconds and scale up to 16 seconds later in the match.
  • The remaining teammate can reduce their partner’s reboot timer by 2 seconds by downing an opponent, 3 seconds by eliminating one, and 5 seconds by wiping an opposing duo.

This is crucial because there are only two players on the team, so it will be more difficult to stay alive to allow the teammate to reboot. The reboot timer has been reduced from 30 seconds to 12 seconds, and allowing the time to be further reduced by the remaining teammate taking out other players is a great idea.

Players can jump into the Duos mode now as it went live earlier today. Trios was also leaked and is in the files but wasn’t activated along with Duos. We will likely see it come to the game within the next week or two to give each mode time to breathe and for players to experience them before spending time in their favorite format.

This news comes as Epic Games has begun teasing the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean collaboration that will bring Captain Jack Sparrow to the game along with a new mini Battle Pass on July 19th.
