Adding Fortnite Reload Duos was certainly a great move by Epic Games. Considering that many players enjoy smaller team sizes, the playlist immediately became a hit. However, the game developer also released a couple of major changes to this mode, making it even more chaotic. Not only was the reboot timer shortened at the release, but Epic made even more changes later on.

Despite only being a different playlist, Duos certainly feels different. It has an even faster pace than the Squads playlist due to a lower reboot timer. On top of it, it is now possible to reboot almost instantly, which is a game-changer.

Epic Games released another huge change to Fortnite Reload Duos

When the new game mode just came out, it was only available in the Squads playlist. In Squads, the reboot timer starts at 30 seconds and goes all the way to 40 later in the match. The reboot timer was reduced all the way down to 12 seconds in the Duos playlist when it just came out, but Epic Games felt like it needed another change.

On Thursday night, the Fortnite developer released another gameplay tweak, which turned out to be a game-changer. Instead of 12 seconds, the timer now starts only at six, making reboots much faster than before. This change will certainly take a while to get used to, as it will result in more teams being alive in later stages of the match.

“Get back into the action! We’ve made tweaks to reboot timings in Reload Duos so you drop back in quicker, when compared to Reload Squads.” Epic announced on X (formerly Twitter. “We’re continuing to monitor this and may make further adjustments.” Due to this, we expect even more balance changes in the future.

The shorter reload timer will make Fortnite Reload Duos even more chaotic. Considering the fact that it’s possible to reduce the timer by up to five seconds by eliminating an opposing team, many reboots will be nearly instant. Eliminating an entire team will be much more difficult due to these changes, so it will be interesting to see how the community will react to them.

Fortnite Reload has been a massive hit so far, trumping the numbers of Battle Royale and Zero Build modes. These numbers may further improve, as it appears that Epic Games has prepared a lot of new content for the game mode.
