Helldivers 2 has been one of the best and most popular games of the year so far. However, with this popularity has come the constant demand for new content. This new content typically emerges in the form of monthly premium Warbonds. Arrowhead has confirmed big changes for future Warbonds in Helldivers 2, and players have mixed feelings about the announcement.

Arrowhead has confirmed that the next Helldivers 2 patch update is coming out very soon. Although it won’t be the “mother of all patches,” it is something to be excited about as it will deliver balance changes for some controversial weapons. In addition to this patch, we have the arrival of the Illuminate to anticipate, and their emergence appears imminent thanks to a gateway in the shape of a “black hole“.

The imminent new patch and impending arrival of the Illuminate are exciting, but we also have a fresh Premium Warbond just over the horizon. When this Warbond comes out, make sure to cherish it as the roll out is set to slow down.

  • Executioners Canopy (Cape)

In addition to revealing this new Warbond, Arrowhead announced on the helldivers2 Twitter account that they are changing the release schedule for future Warbonds. The official announcement says, “we’re slowing the pace that we release Warbonds to allow a little more time to polish them”.

Alongside releasing at a slower pace, Arrowhead said on the PlayStation Blog that they “are changing the arrangement of items in each Warbond to make room for new item types, and also higher quality armor and weapons”. This decision was made to “prevent us from simply adding more of everything, which can lead to weapons that feel redundant and uninteresting armor. It’s time to focus on quality over quantity”.

No new release schedule has been announced, but it should be shared shortly in the future. Warbonds have released once per month since launch, so maybe we could see one release every two months. However, this is purely guesswork as of writing.

Reacting to the news of Warbonds releasing less frequently from now on, fans on Reddit shared their mixed feelings about the announcement. One user said, “I agree with giving time to make them polished, but with the limited max levels of samples, coin, etc, you get to a point where there’s no gain beyond providing more democracy to the universe”.

Another user commented, “There’s only 1 primary and 1 secondary in the warbond. I get slowing down if they can’t keep it up but then surely they don’t need to cut on content too. Watch them all still be 1000 SC even though they have far less meaningful content in them”.

Many users echoed the above sentiment with comments such as, “If there’s less content in them, they should reduce the amount of super credits required to get them. I doubt that happens though”. Another user said, “I want warbonds for new weapons first and foremost, then armor. So if this Viper one is light on those because they had to get it out this month, that’s fine. But if future ones are also lacking weapons and are mostly skins I’ll start skipping them”.

While there are many comments disgruntled with the announced changes, there are also comments in favour of Arrowhead’s decision because “one [warbond] per Month was an insane strategy from begin. Like you would just run out of content too soon”.

It’ll be interesting to see the intended new release schedule and if Premium Warbonds remain the same price. One Warbond every two months could be ideal, but it’s possible they could be stretched to one every three months.
