The PSN controversy dominated headlines last month and was the first roadblock that Helldivers 2 has faced after having seemingly being able to do no wrong. Players in 180 countries are still unable to purchase the game and it doesn’t look to be changing any time soon.

Due to the backlash, Helldivers 2 was negatively review bombed, dropping the game’s Steam rating to ‘Mostly Negative.’ Because of this, Arrowhead Game Studios decided to commemorate the controversy by creating a Cape showing the review chart, in a sign of solidarity with those impacted as well as publicly showing support against Sony’s decision.

@loco_storm took to X to ask the Arrowhead Game Studios founder, Johan Pilestedt, whether the team still intended on releasing the Review Bomb Cape as it has been six weeks since the PSN controversy and it has yet to be granted to players.

“Hey @Pilestedt how are those review bomb capes coming along? I haven’t heard anything since the incident about them and was wondering if they were still in the pipeline?”

Johan Pilestedt responded and confirmed that the Cape is complete but the team is currently trying to figure out the best time to release it saying,

“Right. It’s done on our end, but we want to find the right time to release it.”

It could be that Arrowhead Game Studios is waiting until the issue is resolved before releasing the Cape, otherwise it wouldn’t hold much meaning. Or, due to the focus on improving the game with the 01.000.400 update, it could make sense to hold off for now while the developers are hard at work fixing the many issues still plaguing Helldivers 2.

Although Capes don’t offer any perks and are just for cosmetic purposes, they are still a fun way to customize your character. But, it is the other customisation options that can be the difference between success and failure.
