Helldivers 2 is arguably the biggest and most successful game of the year so far, but lately the sweet sensation has gotten a little sour. There was the whole PSN debacle earlier this month, and now fans are getting impatient and frustrated over the lack of updates. Unfortunately, the Helldivers 2 developer has confirmed they have ‘no date’ for when the next patch will arrive, and this comes as the community’s patience is running incredibly thin.

There is stuff to anticipate coming to Helldivers 2. An upcoming mission brings us closer to the Illuminate’s arrival, and a leak has shown a new weapon belonging to the Illuminate race. The impending arrival of the Illuminate is one of the most exciting cliff-hangers for the game, but, unfortunately, we don’t know when they will make their presence known.

In more unfortunate news, neither we nor Arrowhead know when the next patch will be delivered. This is frustrating for the community who are impatiently waiting for balance changes and fixes.

On the Helldivers official Discord channel, community manager, Baskinator, has confirmed “no patch today”. Some fans suspected, but mostly wished, that a patch would be delivered on May 28th, but that is officially not happening.

Naturally, many fans responded to the unfortunate news with queries about when the patch will arrive. In further bad news, Baskinator told fans “We don’t have a date for it yet”. In another response, the community manager assured fans that Arrowhead is “working on the next update, and as soon as I can share more, I definitely will”.

Arrowhead has recently relayed the message that patches are becoming less frequent because they want to better test changes before releasing them to the public. As for what we can expect from future updates, the developer has said that they are working on a solution to help players kicked by troll lobby leaders.

They are also looking into adding an emote wheel with more emotes, and the developer has told fans that they believe a fix for the spear complaint is coming.

While the rationale behind less frequent patches is understandable and probably for the best, the downside is that it’s having a negative affect on the community. The player count is dwindling at an alarming rate, and fans are becoming more impatient online.

Reacting to the news of no patch today on Reddit, one of the top comments echoes the antsy feeling amongst many players by saying, “Taking a break until more content will be added and they manage to balance the guns”. This sentiment is echoed by many in the replies with users saying, “Most of my mates that play this already doing that. I play way less than I did too”.

As for this update highly anticipated by players, community manager, Twinbeard, told fans on May 25th that Arrowhead has never called it a “balance update”. The patch is supposedly “simmering nicely,” but it has not been referred to as a balance update so make sure to temper your expectations.
