Helldivers 2 looks like it could be in trouble soon if things don’t change. The player base has been in decline for many weeks and Arrowhead Game Studios’ current strategy doesn’t seem to be keeping players engaged. Despite the recent 01.000.403 update, jungle biome, and Viper Commandos Warbond helping to increase the player count slightly, it soon went back on the decline and has now reached lows of under 40,000.
U/Dry_Mixture_257 took to Reddit to future of Helldivers 2 when it comes to content and what they think Arrowhead Game Studios should be focusing on if they want to bring players back to the game, noting that “I understand Arrowhead wasn’t expecting the game to be as big as it was on launch,” they said.
“I feel like we need content. No, not a new Warbond. And no, not a new Stratagem, a new faction, Or new biomes. Add more player progression or customization. I played the hell out of this game when it first released but after a while it got very stale. But at some point, give us a reason to come back.”
Helldivers 2 has been on a steady decline in players over the past few months, with the game now seeing just 10% of its peak player count turning on the game each day. Unfortunately, it has come at a time when the studio has semi-shut down for the next 4-6 weeks. This means that players can expect to see no new updates or content added for at least a month.
With the team being on vacation for the next month, there isn’t much to do except take this time to unlock everything you haven’t had the chance to yet, such as unlocking Ship Modules and Warbonds.
