Helldivers 2 is split between two different enemy types, the Automatons, and Terminids, which will soon become three as The Illuminate are set to make their presence known soon. Many players favor the Terminids, which often means that Automaton-focused Major Orders are failed as some players refuse to fight a different enemy type. But, after the community came together to take on the incredibly difficult Dark Fluid drilling mission, it now looks like the favor was repaid as the latest Automaton Major Order has been completed.

Following the recent focus on the Terminids, which concluded with players completely destroying Meridia, leaving a black hole in its place. In an unexpected twist, the focus has now shifted back to the Automatons, with the latest Major Order calling for players to liberate Wasat by first taking over surrounding planets and isolating the enemy forces.

It isn’t clear why attention went back on the Automatons and whether this will somehow play into the story of the black hole, or whether the developers just wanted to give the game a change of pace. The Major Order was a success and players were able to liberate the planet with time to spare after regularly seeing approximately 60-70% of the active players working towards the goal. Usually, it is difficult to get players to switch from the Terminids, perhaps the lure of 45 Medals was too tempting, especially with the new Viper Commandos Warbond right around the corner.

Speaking of the Warbond, the Major Order may be leading players to liberate Meissa next, which is a bright jungle planet, making it perfect for the jungle-themed Viper Commandos. It will be interesting to see if this is the direction Arrowhead Game is going.

Players took to Reddit to celebrate the successful Major Order, with U/Star_Lord87 saying “Well done everyone! Truth be told, wasn’t sure we’d get this one, as it looked like we were running out of time but glad to see in the end, liberty prevailed!”

It is surprising that players stuck with it, as Wasat wasn’t an enjoyable planet to play on due to the blinding fog, with U/Sleep724 saying words I never thought anyone would utter when they said “Would take Hellmire over this. The long-distance sniping from rocket and shield devastators who you couldn’t see was rage-inducing. Wasted so many teenage lives on this planet. Still dove anyway though.”

The new Viper Commandos Warbond is set to be released on June 13th alongside the first update in quite some time. It will be interesting to see whether any of the items will shake up the meta and become essential parts of any player builds.
