Helldivers 2 is one of the best games of the year. It’s been a huge success for Arrowhead, and it has also been a success for Sony on PlayStation and PC. Understandably, there are calls for the game to land on Xbox consoles. While nothing is guaranteed, Arrowhead has explained what is needed for Helldivers 2 to release on Xbox Series X/S.
It’s an exciting time for the HD2 community as the Liberty Day release date is imminent. Leaks have revealed new armor, and there is the belief that the arrival of the Illuminate could happen. In addition for the future, leaks have revealed more exciting details about clans, and leaks have also shared a Destiny-like addition that could join HD2 one day.
While all of the above is exciting, many are also hoping that Helldivers 2 will come to Xbox. It’s not happening for the foreseeable, but Arrowhead has stated that it is not impossible.
Arrowhead explains requirement for Helldivers 2 to release on Xbox
On the Helldivers Discord, there are calls for HD2 to come to Xbox on an almost daily basis. While a lot of people on Microsoft’s console want to be able to experience Arrowhead’s multiplayer epic, there are also people on PC and PlayStation who want to be able to play with friends who only own an Xbox.
Arrowhead community manager, Twinbeard, has just responded to a user asking if it’s impossible for Helldivers 2 to come to Xbox. The community manager provided the following response:
“Who says it couldn’t? It’s not up to us but to Sony and Phil to duke out, but hypothetically speaking, if both partners think it would benefit them from a financial/brand standpoint, it could. If Sony believes it won’t though, it won’t.”
The above response is both good and bad. On one hand, it’s not impossible for HD2 to come to Xbox, but on the other, it’s entirely up to Sony and they haven’t shown the same multi-platform excitement as Microsoft.
Microsoft has brought Xbox exclusives to Sony such as Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush, and even more are planned for the future such as Indiana Jones in 2025. As for PlayStation, they have released some PS5 console exclusives day one on PC such as Helldivers 2 and Concord, but nothing for Xbox.
It’s not entirely impossible for Helldivers 2 to join Xbox as the MLB series is published by Sony and is available on all systems. However, right now, the MLB series is an anomaly, so the chance of HD2 coming to Xbox remains massively slim, albeit not impossible.
