Following Activision and Treyarch’s lengthy Black Ops 6 segment during the Xbox Games Showcase, the developers revealed that MW2 and MW3 skins will not carry over to the next CoD installment. Unfortunately, this means those who spent money on bundles and accessories over the past two games can no longer access their locker in BO6. But it also means players won’t have to see some unpopular cosmetics, like the infamous Nicki Minaj skin, in action.

Upon being introduced as part of MW2 Season 5, the Nicki Minaj bundle predictably gained a ton of fans since she remains one of the most famous rappers in the modern hip-hop era. However, it also had a ton of critics, especially in the hardcore portion of the fan base, since most felt that Activision introducing these cosmetics was slowly turning CoD into Fortnite. Predictably enough, MW2 and MW3 content not carrying over to BO6 is already being celebrated by some on Reddit.

Some, like u/WW2er, said they “don’t want to see [Nicki] Minaj doing a finishing move on Gundam on day one” because “it [would make] the game feel like an expansion.” u/blake0613 shared a similar sentiment, noting that they “don’t [want to] play day one with Nicki Minaj running around 90s era maps.” However, according to Treyarch associate creative director Miles Leslie (via IGN), they’re apparently “going to add those things into [Black Ops 6] post-launch,” so Nicki Minaj, Homelander, and the rest of the pop culture skins may yet make an appearance in the future.

Of course, this isn’t a surprise considering these cosmetics tend to be popular with most players, which likely nets Activision a ton of profit. That said, Treyarch will likely be introducing a completely different set of pop culture skins in the future, so you probably won’t have to suffer the wrath of Nicki Minaj in Black Ops 6.
