Sony has begun their annual Days of Play sale on the PlayStation store. As per usual, this is a fantastic onslaught of discounts for dozens of blockbuster games. In addition to starting the Days of Play festivity, Sony has also announced that PS Plus is getting more games before the end of May 2024, and one of these games includes an indie masterpiece from last year.

There were heavy rumors of a PlayStation Showcase or State of Play happening this month, and it’s now been confirmed for May 30th. In addition, we have a Silent Hill Transmission event taking place on the same day. Per Konami, this Transmission will provide updates for the Silent Hill franchise including video games, movies, and merchandise.

While the imminent State of Play is really exciting, extra good news from Sony comes in the form of more games for PS Plus before the month ends. Not only that, but we also have some mega additions confirmed for June.

PS Plus games arriving before the end of May 2024

In the PlayStation blog post announcing the Days of Play sale, Sony also confirmed that the following games are set to join PS Plus Extra and Premium before the end of May 2024:

  • Dredge – May 29th
  • WWE 2K24 Premium Game Trial – May 29th
  • LEGO MARVEL Superheroes 2 – May 31st

Dredge is a fantastic addition to Sony’s subscription service. It’s a fishing game with a unique horror-esque twist, and it was nominated for indie game of the year at the Game Awards 2023, and was also nominated for best debut game by a studio.

In addition to these arrivals before the end of the month, Sony has also confirmed the following for Essential, Extra, and Premium in June:

  • SpongeBob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake – Essential – June 4th
  • AEW Fight Forever – Essential – June 4th
  • Streets of Rage 4 – Essential – June 4th
  • Cricket 24 – Extra and Premium – June 5th
  • Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord VR – Premium – June 6th
  • Walkabout Mini Golf VR – Premium – June 6th
  • Synth Riders VR – Premium – June 6th
  • Before Your Eyes VR – Premium – June 6th
  • The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapters 1 & 2 VR – Premium – June 6th
  • GTA San Andreas Definitive Edition – Extra and Premium – June 7th

Lastly, the following PS2 classics will be joining Premium:

  • Tomb Raider Legend – June 11th
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars – June 11th
  • Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus – June 11th

Hopefully we will able to buy the above PS2 games from the PSN store rather than just relying on a Premium membership. The addition of Tomb Raider Legend is particularly great, especially for fans of Lara Croft itching for more classic Tomb Raider following on from the success of the remastered trilogy earlier this year.

If you do not have a PS Plus subscription, there is the following discounts for 12-month memberships between now and June 9th:

  • Essential (12-months) – £47.99 (20% off £57.99)
  • Extra (12-months) – £74.99 (25% off £99.99)
  • Premium (12-months) – £83.99 (30% off £119.99)

Along with all of the above, PS Plus subscribers can also get newly released free Fortnite items before they expire.
