The First Descendant is Nexon’s latest, and amid the huge player-count it has just enjoyed, alongside the mass review bombing and microtransactions controversy, the game servers have crumbled under the pressure.
At the time of writing, The First Descendant is currently down, with issues regarding a “Game Login Failed” error running rampant. Although the dev team has not acknowledged the latest network outage, it may have been caused by the recently released update 1.01.
Prior to the current downtime, The First Descendant last experienced network issues on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
As of yet, Nexon has not said why the servers are currently inaccessible, though it’s unlikely that it’s maintenance in light of the lack of warning. There seems to be no working fix for the issue yet either, so you’re going to have to simply wait it out, unfortunately. However, the developers will likely reveal more details via The First Descendant Discord server, so make sure to join for the latest announcements.
Though unconfirmed, the server outage was likely caused by a bandwidth issue. Previously, the game reached a peak of 225,000 players, which is only a few thousand shy of its absolute peak player count, which was hit at launch.
