The upcoming free-to-play third-person shooter, The First Descendant, is set to launch on July 2nd and looks to be one of the first games in its genre to push the new Unreal Engine 5 to its limits and showcase what it is capable of. With it being compared to Destiny 2 and Outriders, many gamers are hopeful that this will be a major hit and could be the next big live-service game.
Ahead of its release, players can now pre-load the game, giving players 48 hours to get the game installed before it goes live. The Steam download for The First Descendant is 35.53GB, so it is not a large game, at least at launch. PS5 players will need to clear out 36.75GB of storage to install the game, whereas PS4 owners will only need 28.17 GB. It is a little larger on the Xbox Series X, with Nexon’s new shooter requiring 41.98 GB.
Once you have The First Descendant installed, here is when the game will go live across the world:
- Midnight PDT
- 3 am EDT
- 7 am GMT
- 8 am BST
- 9 am CEST
- 4 pm KST
- 4 pm JST
Thankfully, The First Descendant doesn’t look to be a very demanding game on PC, and most players shouldn’t struggle to play it. For those with older hardware than what is listed, you could drop the graphics settings to be able to play it, but most of the requirements are multiple generations old at this point.

The First Descendant isn’t the only free-to-play game to recently hit the market, with Tarisland launching earlier this month. And shooter fans don’t have long to wait until the free-to-play FPS Delta Force: Hawk Ops is released next month, with over 1.1 million players already pre-registered for the Alpha test.
