So far we have only seen two factions in Helldivers 2, the Automatons and Terminids. But for almost as long as the game has been released, it has been rumored that The Illuminate will be coming to the game. This has been confirmed through various leaks and players are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of the futuristic faction. It looks like it is finally about to happen after a new mission type has been uncovered that lines up with previous leaks surrounding what will occur before The Illuminate arrives.
U/Aiden0o_ took to Reddit to share details surrounding a new mission type that could be coming to the Helldivers 2 as soon as the next Major Order. This new mission is called Deploy Dark Fluid and the user was able to access it when playing the game before it locked them out of it.
A briefing notice for the mission reads “We must seize this opportunity to destroy the Terminid Super Colony. Helldivers all across the planet will deploy with a limited supply of the exotic matter known as Dark Fluid, and insert it at critical points in the planet’s crust. Once critical mass is reached, the planet will collapse into a black hole, destroying the threat to Liberty once and for all.”
The mission description shares more details as to what to expect: “Deploy to the Super Colony, call down the Dark Fluid Vessel, and insert it af each of the payloads to help destroy the planets.
it has been mentioned for a while that The Illuminate will make its presence known following a black hole event. From the information given, we will completely destroy a planet as it gets sucked into the black hole, which could then pose a threat to the rest of the galaxy as more planets get sucked into it.
With The Illuminate being a faction focused on advanced technology, they may have the ability to close the black hole and save the galaxy from total destruction.
