Warzone in 2025 hasn’t been the smoothest of sailing. Since Black Ops 6’s integration into Call of Duty’s battle royale, players dropping into the action have experienced a wealth of game-breaking flaws that have driven top content creators away to other games.
The return of Verdansk is on the minds of many fans hoping Raven Software can fix the issues and create a battle royale that features the fast-paced gameplay it’s known for. While many expect the original iteration of the map is returning, recent leaks have the potential to taint its return five years after the map made its debut.
Verdansk map changes could ruin Warzone return
According to notable leaker TheGhostOfHope, 2025’s Verdansk will feature the Fringe multiplayer map as one of many points of interest (POI) players can visit throughout a match.
Fringe made its Call of Duty debut with Black Ops 3, four years before the Warzone servers were switched on. With the first version of the battle royale taking heavy inspiration from the Modern Warfare series, the rumoured appearance of Fringe runs the risk of upsetting fans even more.
The demand for the original version of Verdansk to return has been high ever since the map disappeared in 2021. If Raven Software has decided to add a sprinkling of Black Ops onto the battlefield, there’s a real possibility its long-awaited return misses the mark.
Can Verdansk save Warzone?
Verdansk is set to return as part of Season 3, marking the halfway point of the Black Ops 6 cycle. For Warzone, the lack of anti-cheat combined with numerous issues causing matches to crash have plagued the battle royale resulting in a significant decline of players and interest in what the game has to offer.
Raven Software has the perfect opportunity to restore Warzone to its former glory with an extensive update and the return of the battle royale’s most popular map. If Fringe is included in some capacity, the risk of dividing fans even further could spark even more issues.
