Helldivers 2 was updated regularly and heavily when it first launched. Since the game’s launch in February, there has been a boatload of patches providing balance changes and new content, but things have admittedly slowed down. Fortunately, Arrowhead has shared when the next Helldivers 2 patch update is coming out, and there’s not too much longer left to wait.
You can still check out the patch notes for update 1.000.305. This is the most recent patch from Arrowhead, but it simply comprises of fixes as it was an emergency hotfix as opposed to a more regular update. Since this emergency hotfix, players have become enamoured with the game once more thanks a terrifying “black hole” believed to signal the arrival of the heavily-anticipated Illuminate alien race.
While the legions of Super Earth’s army cannot wait for the Illuminate, fans have also been desperate for the next real significant update from Arrowhead. Fortunately, we know when the next Helldivers 2 patch is coming out, and it’s not too far away.
When is the next Helldivers 2 patch update?
The next patch update for Helldivers 2 is set to come out between June 10th to June 16th. This has been shared on the series’ official Discord where community manager, Baskinator, shared that the update is set to come out in the “second week of June”.
Technically, we are already in the second week of the month as June began last Saturday, but fellow community manager, Twinbeard, elaborated on Discord that Baskinator was referring to the “second full week of June”.
No specific launch day for the update has been shared, so it could arrive any day between June 10th to 16th. We’d expect it to arrive on a weekday rather than the weekend, and patches have typically come out on Tuesday so we could be looking at June 11th. However, this is purely guesswork.
There’s always a possibility a delay could occur, but right now we have the next update in sight. As for why patches have been slowed down, Baskinator’s announcement provided the following explanation:
“You are right: we’ve slowed down our cadence for patches. We’ll go into more detail about it in an upcoming blog, but the short version is that dedicating more time to each patch will allow us to provide a higher quality standard and reduce the pressure on our teams. At Arrowhead, the physical and mental health of the team is very important to us, and maintaining a long-term sustainable work pace is crucial for our developers and staff to avoid putting anyone at risk of burnout.
“Additionally, the cadence at which we were patching left us little time to engage with the community, or build Helldivers 2 alongside our players, in meaningful ways. This slower pace enables us to focus our energy more effectively, resulting in more impactful updates and a more enjoyable game experience for everyone.”
We don’t exactly know what the next update will include, but Arrowhead has warned not to expect the “mother of all patches“. They have suggested a fix for spears is finally coming, meanwhile, they have also reaffirmed that changes are coming to the Galactic War map, while also expressing a desire to add an emote wheel with more emotes.
