The eve of the Elden Ring community’s mass return to the Lands Between is nigh, as the launch of FromSoftware’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is only a few hours away. But while most are preparing their PCs and gaming consoles for preloading, it seems a select few are getting to download the game earlier than expected.
Despite FromSoftware specifying the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC preload date, PlayStation players are somehow preloading the expansion early on their consoles. That’s according to a few social media posts, where people have begun sharing images of their PS4s and PS5s while downloading the DLC ahead of schedule. For those unfamiliar, FromSoftware had initially confirmed that preloading would become available on June 19, two days before its release date.
Unfortunately, Xbox users haven’t been as lucky, as some players on Reddit express their frustration at having to wait. Of course, it’s worth remembering that the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree release time map has the expansion launching on all platforms simultaneously. So, even if you don’t get to preload the game early, you won’t have to experience FOMO for long since you’ll get to experience the DLC at the same time as other people.
Even more important than the Elden Ring DLC preload, though, is that Shadow of the Erdtree has one crucial prerequisite you need to accomplish before you can access it: defeating Mohg.
