XDefiant Season 1 has begun and there is plenty to enjoy with its launch. There is a new battle pass, a fresh faction, more maps, along with the introduction of Ranked. In addition to all of this, Ubisoft are set to introduce a new mode. The XDefiant executive producer has said that the new mode will come ASAP while also explaining why it requires a “lot more work than a normal mode”.

With the launch of Season 1, Ubisoft has released six free character and weapon skins for fans to grab before they soon expire. Ranked starts on July 3rd, but fans are worried about the performance of Ranked seeing as the Season 1 patch notes don’t mention any further fixes for the netcode.

With plenty of new additions now available at the start of Season 1, fans are anticipating the arrival of Search and Destroy. It is coming, but it requires a lot more work than other modes because of a key aspect.

Search and Destroy is coming to XDefiant ASAP

On Twitter, XDefiant executive producer, Mark Rubin, was asked if Ubisoft are going introduce Search and Destory mode. The executive producer posted the following response:

“It’s coming asap but still has some outstanding bugs. Remember this will be our first mode that has a spectator cam so a lot more work than a normal mode.”

Unfortunately, there’s no ETA for when it will arrive, but at least there is an acknowledgement it will come as soon as possible. We know that it hasn’t launched with the start of Season 1 because it is still suffering from bugs, and we also know it is requiring more work than usual because of the inclusion of a spectator cam.

While the arrival of Search and Destroy is heavily anticipated, a lot of players are more desperate for Ubisoft to fix issues with the netcode. In response to a plethora of complaints about the netcode from the community, Mark Rubin posted:

“We’ve been updating the netcode and hitreg in our patches. We’ve seen a bunch of people say that it got better after those recent patches. But we know there is still more to do. This engine has never done anything like this before so we are building the online experience from scratch so to speak. We are not a game on a decades old engine. We’ll get there.”

For more XDefiant, leaks suggest we are getting Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed factions and maps soon.
